Attention seniors.  Are you applying to a top university and looking for scholarships?  Don't forget to apply for the Newell Opportunity Fund.  This $40,000 scholarship is for one Forest Grove High School senior who is headed to a top university.  Applications are due April 2.  Talk to your school counselor to learn more.


Seniors, do you need Applied Arts credit to graduate?  Do you have some background in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish?  Consider taking the upcoming exam to challenge Spanish 1 on Wednesday, March 10 at 12noon at FGHS.  School buses are available for transportation, masks required.  This test is open to any senior who believes they will benefit from challenging Spanish 1 and who has not already taken the course.  Please check your email for a google form to sign-up and contact your school counselor with any questions.


Calling all girls lacrosse players! And girls interested in learning to play lacrosse! It is time to sign up on familyid.com.  We are going to have a great season! Please email Abby Coleman with any questions acoleman@fgsd.k12.or.us


Are you looking to make the world a better place?  How about Forest Grove and Cornelius?  Community service is a good way to do it.  Key club is getting started again and will have events starting in March.  Please email Mr Stapp dstapp@fgsd.k12.or.us  for info.  


This year Renaissance Leadership is wanting to get the student body to become bigger participants in school events and some fun challenges with the chance of getting prizes such as some school swag and possibly a lunch of your choice from doordash. It's been a rough year, so let's make something fun out of it. Join the Viking Fam on Instagram @renaissance.fghs.


This week we are celebrating National FFA week to show how awesome agriculture is, here are some interesting facts. 

  1. Crayons are grown from soybeans and one bushel of soybeans will make 2,112 crayons. 
  2. It takes 10 pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese. 
  3. There are 914 million acres of farmland in the United States alone. 
  4. Oregon is the number one producer of hazelnuts, christmas trees, and blackberries

If you are looking for a way to get fit, stay motivated or just get out of the house, please come join us. No experience necessary - you don't even have to like running. :)  Please sign up on familyid.com to get registered and email Coach Shipley (ashipley@fgsd.k12.or.us.) or Coach Lewis (llewis@fgsd.k12.or.us) with any questions. Are you wanting to learn some new strategies for coping with all that life is throwing at us right now?  Consider joining Mindfulness Matters.  We have live 15-minute mindfulness sessions on Mondays during lunch and after school and on Wednesdays.  No experience needed.  Come learn new ways to destress.  Contact Mrs. Van Zanten or Mrs. Salmanca to get the join link for the Canvas class.  See you there!
