Details on July 25th Graduation Details

Thank you for your rapid response with our Graduation Event survey. Your feedback has helped us organize our event the best we can.

 

We are excited about our July 25th Graduation Celebration for the Class of 2020! While we were originally hoping for an easing of social gathering restrictions by this point of the summer, it is clear that our county and state are not in a position to ease these restrictions.

 

 

Here is the plan; Families sign up for an hour block on the 25th - starting at 8:00 am. Families will drive in by the tennis courts, past the main entrance and to the Basinski Center. All families will have to check in at the entrance of the bus lane before driving to our stage. At this time they will receive instructions along with a name card that the student will present when walking across the stage. While students drive up to the Basinski Center they will be cheered and celebrated by FGHS and District staff.

 

We will schedule approximately 50 students each hour. We will have a graduation stage with ramps on each side set up in front of the Basinski Center with lots of balloons, etc. Families will drive up, the graduate will get out and walk across the stage, receiving their diploma. Lifetouch will be there to take a picture after the student exits the stage. Family members will be allowed out of their vehicle to take a picture as the student walks across the stage (one family member ONLY).

 

If you want to take additional photos, we ask that you arrange that at a separate time so we can stay on schedule and get all 350 students across the stage to get their diploma. We ask families to plan on 1-2 vehicles max per student/family. We encourage families to decorate their vehicles in celebration of their graduate. All students are asked to wear their cap, gown, medals, cords, etc. The cap and gown should remain intact without additional decorations. By having families sign up for an hour block of time, and having people staged throughout the bus lane to the Basinski Center - we think we can get all students through in 6 - 8 hours. We ask that all families are diligent and conscientious of the block of time they sign up for. Within each block of time students will go through in the order they arrive and get in line by the tennis courts. We will have volunteer staff helping direct families through our Graduation, including assisting our graduates (social distancing) across the stage to receive their diploma. FGHS is concerned with the health and safety of our entire community, and while we want to honor our graduates, we will need to follow social distancing regulations and wear masks where we cannot maintain social distance.

 

Upon receiving your official diploma, we ask that you exit the campus to ensure that we have ample space for subsequent graduates and guests. Remember, we are scheduling 50 graduates an hour and have approximately 350 students to recognize. In addition to adding to our Virtual Graduation and reposting that celebration, we are working to provide a livestream of this Graduation Event as well. More information to come.

If you have opted-out of our July 25th event you will have the option to pick up your diploma prior to July 25th or on Tuesday, July 28th from 2-4pm.

¡Estamos entusiasmados con nuestra celebración de graduación del 25 de julio para la clase de 2020!
